All That You Can't Leave Behind

I think you've got to find a reason, anyone will do, to get through the day. One at a time. Then, that reason, that has to evolve, progress, transform, will be enough to dull the edge of everything else. You don't have to secure yourself to that reason, you have to use it and dispose it, because if not, that reason will control you. And you'll live for that, and not for you.
We are always worrying, and caring, and why? Is it reciprocal? If I care, would they? And what should I care about? If I go out of my way to stay in touch with people, to be nice, to care, is that any reassurance of anything? People are selfish, everyone of them. So why should I care? Well I think we should care, because, no matter how selfish we can be, we are all dependent of one another. Not in equal proportions, obviously. But maybe it should be a call of attention, to care about something enough to make it happen. You have to ask for what you want, make it happen for you. Because they are not going to happen just because you wish them hard. Make things happen, that's one reason.
